Life’s lessons 2026
“When you share your story and become vulnerable, the ripple effect and the people that you can help along the way is a life lesson.” Sophie Gregoire Trudeau
As I am writing this, it is now the beginning of Chinese New Year and I have been fortunate to see lion dancing many times, both here in Australia and recently in Viet Nam. It is a wonderful celebration and cultural spectacular. The dances are well trained and very athletic.
Travelling and exploring cultural events are a wonderful life lesson for many different reasons. For me, it allows me to meet different people from all walks of life and place us all in proximity. This allows us to learn from each other, even people that we usually wouldn’t touch base with. We learn more about them and their culture, what is their normal and explore our differences and similarities.
Whilst in Viet Nam, we enjoyed two special events – one at the resort on New Years Eve and the other on the cruise. The second event was by teenagers from a charity and whilst both dancing troupes were amazing – the teenagers were outstanding due to their start in life. Another life lesson is to never judge a person’s past.
Interestingly, I purchased some Lego kits recently to celebrate Chinese New Year and display in my clinic. I started the first one – a lucky cat and unfortunately this kit had some bricks missing. Onto Lego’s website and they are currently on route to my post box. I commenced the second one last week in anticipation and got through the first set of instructions and completed the two smaller pieces. My skill level didn’t meet the second bag, nearly finished and attempted to put in the pieces and it all fell apart! Disappointed and attempted many times with the same result! I tried to outsource this, however, did not have a family member take it up! The fortune firecracker is now sitting hidden in an office drawer in anticipation for next year’s celebration. This life lesson is that if I can’t use glue, obviously it is not going to work for me. Another life lesson is to hide the product until you are ready to deal with it. I have utilised this strategy in the past!
I know we all have life lessons, some of which we share and others that we are not ready too. We all feel vulnerable at different times.
