Health and wellbeing
“Some people don’t do well simply because they don’t feel well.”
Jim Rohn
This week we are discussing health and wellness and how our physical health can impact on our mental health and wellbeing and vice versa.
I have returned from leave over the past two weeks, and I am adjusting back into the workplace. Had I not had the break, I am not sure that my health and wellbeing would be at it’s best. We all need to have a number of things happening to enable us to be the best version of ourselves.
We need to have sufficient nutrients in our diet, stay hydrated and also engage in a self-care plan which provides, not only exercise but also emotional, work-life balance, social and psychological wellbeing. This also needs time for rest and recovery.
Having a great self-care plan doesn’t stop our world from crumbling with poor health, but it does help us bounce back quicker when things do go south.
When I was travelling, I did catch some lurgies and become unwell. It may have been in the air conditioning units on the plane or ship. Whilst I travelled, I took some supplements and ensured that I ate well and hydrated the best I could. The travel also ensured that I was walking every day despite feeling unwell and uncomfortable at times.
Now that I am back on deck, I continue to monitor my diet and try to get a little exercise in daily, however, this is difficult due to my work hours. In fact, I am standing as I write this to enable a little more movement in the day. I also attempt a small walk at lunch to also increase the steps, which is handy as I often need to purchase the lunch as well.
Unfortunately, over the past week and for the next two – I am in the car for a short drive. This week was a round trip to Ouyen (two hours return) and a little further for the next two, Sea Lake (three hours return). This does lessen the number of steps that I can do in a day. I will have to increase my step count on the other days to increase the daily average.
What do you do to take care of your health and wellness?
