Flexibility 2025

“Freedom always deals with ‘the possible’; this gives freedom its great flexibility, its fascination, and its dangers.” Rollo May

This week’s conversation is around flexibility and as I write this, I am in Cairns Queensland.

I love the flexibility of being my own boss and being able to block out time as options become available, or as I need.  Whether planning a quick trip away or making time available for family commitments and/or emergencies, like medical appointments.

This time, my husband has a business conference, and we have made the most of this and added a week away from our businesses, in order to refresh and unite with just the two of us.  Life has been rather hectic in our household and this opportunity was just too good to miss out on.  An added bonus is that the weather is a gorgeous 22 degrees at night, rather than the icy winter down south.

Had I not been self-employed, I would not be able to take advantage of these times.  I love the freedom and flexibility that this provides me.

This year, we have many exciting events planned.  The next major event is a family wedding, and this is also in Queensland.  We have crossed out more dates in our work calendars to make room and plan around this significant event.  I have already completed the necessary shopping and am event ready!  Wish I could say the same for the other half, but we still have time.  We may be able to sneak this in whilst away this week!

We also have a small holiday planned after Christmas for a quick getaway to Cambodia and Vietnam. We have booked the bones of this trip and once we get back from our two Queensland trips, we will concentrate on all the finer details of this adventure.  It all takes time and planning, which to date, we have not had the opportunity to complete this task.

What does flexibility look like, or feel like – for you?
