Your local library – a great resource
“The only thing that you absolutely need to know, is the location of the library.”
Albert Einstein
This week we are looking at available resources and for me, the library is a wonderful resource – both locally and/or online.
Books are a valuable resource and at times, you may not have the money available to purchase your own copy OR you may wish to look at the book prior to deciding whether to purchase (or not)!
For those of you who have a less cluttered home, returning the books back to the library keeps the home clutter free!
But libraries are a wealth of resources and it’s not only about the books (including audio and ebooks). They have a range of services available to locals and those passing through.
I am lucky enough to live in a border community and have access to two wonderful libraries. Both offer a range of services to the community, such as public access computers, free wi-fi, printing services, meeting rooms, kid’s activities (such as toddler story times and holiday activities), baby play, book clubs and after hour screenings of movies or music. You can also read the local newspapers or monthly magazines. One even has a walking group, sewing circle and a midday movie!
Whether you are a parent and looking for activities to keep your kids amused or looking at learning a new hobby or skill – the library has a range of options available for us all.
Libraries are also very handy for those travelling and I imagine the local librarians also know a lot about the region.
Have you checked out what’s available at your local library?
